St. Neot (after whom the town in Huntingdonshire was named) was a dwarf
who was made a saint for the miracle he performed, which was that of
bringing back to life two fried fish which someone had thrown down a well.

British Government at last recognised the People's Republic of China.
The Foreign Secretary was quoted as saying that the British Government
would have liked to recognise it earlier, but the problem was that all
Chinese Republics looked the same to them.

The British Army experienced their worst massacre in its history at
Kabul in Afganistan.
It was shortly after this incident that the British Army terminated
the practice of standing in straight lines and shouting "Come on then
Johnny Afghan, let's see what you're made of".
