Scalextric Runs Rings Round Pooclubbers

And the winner of February's Poomail Of The Month is... Brian!

Yes, Brian's classic tale of the scalextric set that fell into his lap has delighted pooclubbers so much that they chose it as the best poomail posted to pooclub in the whole of February 2002. The message can be read in its original form at msg #12066 but for those of you who can't be arsed clicking on that link the full text is printed below.

Congratulations are also extended to our runner up Kate who got in a quick snipe at our new member Mr. Ben Ginger before he'd even joined. See msg #12323.

So, don't forget, if any further poomails particularly impress you, simply nominate them in the "Poomail Of The Month Nominations" table in the pooclub database.

And now for Brian's winning poomail...

Just Like Christmas

I have just been given a whole stack of Scalextric stuff given to me for free. It was donated to a charity I have done some work for and since they don't have a tame electrician, by law they cannot sell anything electrical because it has not been certified safe.

So anything electrical I am usually asked to get rid of for them and I take it all to the skip or give it to another charity if it is good enough.

Now this Scalextric stuff is all from the sixties or early seventies and includes cars with original boxes and instructions albeit a bit tatty (Austin Martins, Coopers, etc) track (loads of it) accessories and controllers. It is a veritable gold mine.

This stuff was donated by some guy whose father had just died of cancer and he wanted it to go towards the ongoing search for a cure. But due to financial constraints and a lack of volunteer electricians it will never be sold through his chosen outlet.

The cost of this stuff must be quite high as I made inquiries and was told that just two of the Austin Martins are worth £50 to this specialist (and this was a retailer so they would be sold on for more than that)

Now my dilemma is this, should I play with the green Austin first or the JPS?
